Curriculum Enrichment

Our curriculum extends beyond the subject learning experiences that we plan for all classes and includes a wide range of enriching experiences and opportunities, both within and beyond the school day. This includes an extensive programme of after-school clubs, that support the core curriculum offer, as well as those which develop specialist skills, such as Spanish, art, cooking, sports and music. You can find out more about our After school clubs on our pupil pages. These clubs also extend the range of children’s experiences (Cultural Capital).  A primary focus of our curriculum is to raise aspirations, engender a sense of personal pride in achievement, and provide a purpose and relevance for learning. We plan a number of visits and visitors for all classes across the Year to enrich the children's learning and to give opportunities for children that they might not otherwise receive.

Throughout the year, themed days/weeks and visits are woven into the curriculum to extend the breadth and balance of opportunities we offer our pupils. These include, Anti-bullying Week, Internet Safety Day, World Book Day, Black History Day, Church Year celebration days and cultural diversity weeks. All classes have visits and visitors each term to extend their learning enquiries and to strengthen children's learning. Click on the button below for more details of planned class visits.
